The Origin of the Name
"Six Oaks"
The cemetery gets its name from the original Six Oaks of the Lawton Plantation. These trees that are laid out in an allee that was planted in 1665 as evidenced by recent scientific dating.
Although they are over 350 years old, these trees are considered to be relatively young for a live oak tree, which can live to be over 1,000 years of age.
